We had a great time photographing Tim & Amanda’s gorgeous family tonight. The weather was absolutely perfect for a fall session and the kids were great to work with as well. Here are just a few of my favorite shots.

Fargo Air Show

Last weekend Linda and I went to the Fargo Air Show with the kids. It was a gorgeous day and some awesome flying happening there as well. I love the sound and feel of the power in the fighter jets. So cool!!!

Teresa & Scott Wedding

Last weekend we had the joy of photographing Teresa & Scott’s wedding… it was a beautiful day and what can I say… an even more beautiful couple. We went everywhere …. and I do mean everywhere. I don’t think I’ve ever spent as much time driving in ditches as I did on this wedding… thanks Scott

As many of you probably know I am just part of a team… Having an awesome “assistant” always helps when it comes to telling the complete story. That’s where Linda comes in, she rocks as a photographer… check out these images… they just help to tell the whole story of the day and together we can capture every angle of the day and tell the complete story.

This afternoon I got to do a quick cap and gown photo shoot for T.J. We always do the “typical” photos as well but we like to put just a little twist on the traditional for a few extra shots. Here are just two of the shots we got of T.J. Looking forward to doing the rest of your grad photos.

Cuts n’ Colours by Cindy

Built Ford Tough – Derksen Family Photos

A while back I was asked to do a fun and some what different family photo shoot. The family wanted something “traditional” as well as something a little more fun and different and they wanted this all done at Hometown Ford in Winkler as they own the dealership. We started out with the traditional type photo and then finished off with a fun shot around a brand new Mustang.

Cultural Excursion – Dominican Republic

One of the free days we booked an all day excursion into the “real” Dominican Republic. It was very very interesting to see the real country side and see what happens out side the walls of the resort.

This was our “taxi” for the day… glad we were in a large vehicle, I think that gave us the right of way most of the time. Drivers down there were pretty insane, quite often there would be us passing an oncoming vehicle and in between the two vehicles would be a motorcycle and often another motor cycle at the curb… oh this was a two lane road that all this was happening on as well. Yikes!

What would seem to be just garden sheds or abandoned shacks were homes, scattered through out the country side.

This was our tour guide for the day, Areus Erekto (spelling is probably wrong), what a great guy, he was actually a doctor. That’s right he was a doctor and was giving tours. They have a unique education system in the Dominican, he went to school for 4 years to get his degree, free of charge. Now he was working half time at a job that would help the country (tourism) and 80% of his income from this job went to the government. This was enough to pay for his degree in just one year.

We stopped at a sugar cane plantation and he and our driver cut a piece of sugar cane and let us “eat” it. Well not really eat it but we’d bite into it and then suck the sugar out of it. They chewed it almost like gum… personally it was way too sweet for me and really gritty.

We also got to see them making cigars here and got warned not to buy cigars from the flea markets on the beach as most of them were just news paper and banana leaves. He said if you smoked one you’d start seeing pink elephants… probably not a good idea to bring your boss back one of those

After heading further into the country side we stopped and Areus showed us what a cocoa bean pod looked like from the inside, as he said it looks like monkey brains. He grabbed one of these slimy blobs and popped it in his mouth and everyone in the group was a little grossed out. 10 seconds later we were all sucking on these “monkey brains” ourselves. As gross and disgusting as the texture of the mucus covered beans were, they had a very light and refreshing fruity flavor. I was quite surprised… I just couldn’t get past the texture though.

Learned that bananas seem to grow upside down or so it appears. You can see in Areus’ hand where the “baby” bananas start from.

There were all sorts of interesting characters along the side of the road, like the snake man… apparently he really liked his snakes.

We ended the day long excursion at Macau Beach… WOW what a gorgeous beach. It was such a contrast to some of the “houses” we saw along the way.

Finishing off the day relaxing by he pool was perfect… especially when we heard it was -27 back home.
